Looking back it seems as though the last time I updated this journal was in September, so I guess I could give a quick summary of what’s happened since then. The only thing worth noting fall semester is that I got my Wii after waiting outside a Wal-Mart for 12 hours in the middle of November. I suppose more things happened, but they would take too long to go into.
School has been going well this semester; I believe I’m getting As in both Transmission lines and Probability. I’m not doing quite as well in Semiconductors, though hopefully my fears about how I did on the last test will be allayed by enough people doing worse than me so I’m ahead of the curve. The professor even said today that from what he has graded so far that they are probably going to drop part of the test. As for my circuits lab, the individual parts have gone fine so far, unfortunately 60% of the class is based on group work. If our circuit works the same as it did in our simulation we should be fine. If not, we may have some major problems on our hands, which will either be entirely my fault because I came up with the design for the project, or my group members fault because they did nothing to help me design it. Which leaves Rhetoric of Everyday Life, an upper division writing intensive class. The class itself is interesting, though the readings seem very boring, which probably explains why I’m going into electrical engineering rather than anything resembling a social science. At least all that’s required for the class are the weekly readings and about 15-20 pages of writing throughout the semester. Luckily I got to revise my first paper for the class, I kind of went off on a rant about how much I disliked the authors writing style rather than what I was supposed to be focusing on.
As for other things that have been going on, I’ve seen about 6 seasons of Star Trek Voyager by myself, and 5.3 seasons of Buffy and 2.3 seasons of Angel with other people. I got and broke up with my first girlfriend, it really seemed more like we were being pushed together by other people rather than truly wanting to be together ourselves. At least that’s what I said when I talked to her, who knows what she was actually thinking. A few weeks ago I went to an anime convention, which was pretty cool, though not as fun as last year; I guess I’m not quite as much into anime as I used to be. Though there is talk of going to a general sci-fi/fantasy convention this summer. Hopefully I’ll be able to find a job so I can afford to go.
Which now brings us firmly into the present. Last weekend was quite entertaining, Brit’s little sister was up here for some school project so we got a group of people together and went to the Village Wok. I think I may have done something to my back when I kicked a tree though, it has been having a slight pain whenever I move it. I guess trying out karate moves after nearly 8 months of not exercising wasn’t a good idea. Hopefully it will get better on its own rather than needing to go to a doctor or anything. After dinner went over to the west bank and Laruen showed off her paintings, which are much better than anything I could ever do. To round off the evening we came back here and started watching some weird movie with puppets, though after sufficient verbal and DS complaining we were able to get the movie changed to The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. While it’s an entertaining movie it pales in comparison to the radio series, books and even the TV show, despite its now outdated special effects. Sunday I spent the entire afternoon in Robin and Rachel’s room playing video games, and in the evening we spent three hours watching Buffy and Angel. We may have to find some new way to entertain ourselves once we finally finish those.
Why does it never seem to be a good temperature outside? A couple weeks ago it was freezing cold, now it seems too hot. At least it was nice when I was walking to class this morning, around 45°, but by the time I got out it seemed too hot. I guess I’ll be in trouble come summer when it’s actually hot out.
Incase anyone was wondering (like my mom would be if she had any idea this account existed), I still actually have homework for my classes (in fact I’m working on a Rhetoric paper right now), I just didn’t mention it above because it seemed dull and un-interesting. Luckily all I have for the rest of the semester is 1.5 papers and a few homework assignments and of course, studying for finals. ~Live long and prosper |

The Everything Test There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all. Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-) | Personality | You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about self than concerned about others, more atheist than religious, more loner than dependent, more lazy than workaholic, more traditional than rebel, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more cynical than idealist, more leader than follower, and more introverted than extroverted.
As for specific personality traits, you are adventurious (100%), romantic (71%), intellectual (60%), greedy (59%). | | | Stereotypes | | College Student | 88% | | Prep | 69% | | Geek | 60% | | | | Life Experience | | Sex | 31% | | Substances | 3% | | Travel | 28% | | Politics Your political views would best be described as Socialist, whom you agree with around 78% of the time. | | Socioeconomic Your attitude toward life best associates you with Middle Class. You make more than -0% of those who have taken this test, and 100% less than the U.S. average. | If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG-13. By the way, your hottness rank is 50%, hotter than 72% of other test takers. | TAKE THE TEST brought to you by thatsurveysite
I'd better not have a lower percentage on the "geek" part just becuase I don't own an apple computer. Also, it's kind of annoying that it asks specific cities for travel, sure, I haven't been to New York of Huston, Texas, but I have been to Sydney, Tasmania, New Zealand and many others. |

[Sep. 14th, 2006|11:30 am] |
So they finally announced the release date and price of the Wii November 19th for $250. I'm still getting one, but it is slightly later and more expensive than I would have liked. It seems that when I have the most free time to play video games there is nothing good released, then as finals come about they come out with the Wii. Nathan and I are already discussing going home the weekend it comes out and camping out to get them.
And thanks to Cassie's count down program: 65 days, 12 hours, 25 minutes. |

So my parents came back today from costco with, among other things, the complete series of buffy the vampire slayer. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in watching it as a group or something, or if I should just watch it by myself?
Now to go set up the rest of my dad's purchases... |

Take the quiz at dicepool.com
You are a good old-fashioned six-sided cube, otherwise known as a d6. Others know you to be plain, predictable, conservative, average, ordinary, and downright boring. You prefer to describe yourself as dependable, honest, practical and trustworthy. People usually know what to expect from you, since you rarely hold any surprises. You hate to make decisions, and if forced to decide, you'll always fall back on how it was done in the past. You always order the same thing at your favorite restaurant, and your jokes, while funny, are never too offensive. It seems that you are well liked, but maybe that's simply because there's nothing to hate. |

Not all that much happened today. I finally finished a Mario RPG for the DS that I got for Christmas, it was a pretty fun game though it was a lot more linear than many RPGs, not really any secrests or side quests. At least the battle system was pretty cool. The battles were turn based, though you could dodge enemies attacks by jumping and hitting them with hammers and such. I still prefer the battle system in Tales of Symphonia, which is probably the best RPG I've played; then again I have never and not owning a play station, probably never will, play Final Fantasy VII. Well, after tomorrow no more WoW for me. I may or may not try to find the time to level up to 42 before the end.
Why does it seem that other than Sarah, the only times people actually talk to me on AIM are when I talk to them first, or when they want something from me? And if I talk to someone else first I always need to keep the conversation going, otherwise people just seem to forget that they are talking to me. Though I suppose if they actually wanted to talk to me they wouldn't wait for me to contact them. I guess compared to the other choises of people to talk to out there I'm not interesting enough to actually keep a conversation going with or funny enough to actually make people laugh out loud. |

Is it a sign that I have been watching too much Star Trek when my dreams end in cliff hangers with the romulans showing up? Incase you're wondering, I haven't been just sitting around watching TV, I've been sitting around watching TV while playing WoW and doing other things that don't involve my entire attention. |

At some point I need to get a better picture of my shirt, but I suppose this will have to do for now. If you're wondering why I have eye liner on, Amber made me do it. I think next time I have makeup put on it should be done by someone who either knows what they are doing, or is trying not to make it look bad. But anyways, Pirates II was a good movie, though I wont say anything about it because of those who haven't seen it.
Next weekend, I'm thinking that people could come over around saturday, sunday, monday or tuesday night. Any of those days would work, though it would be nice to know a head of time so I can tell my brohter not to have anyone over when I do. |

The other day I was playing GURPS with some of my friends and we came across a gun called a desert eagle. Having no idea what kind of gun this was, I decided to run a google image search for it. One of the things that came up was a lego rubber band gun that is supposed to look somewhat like a desert eagle. I was bored and had nothing better to do, so the next day I dug though all my old stuff untill I found my legos and started making it. Eventually I came up with this.

Let's see, other things I did yesterday include playing WoW with Lauren, Adam and Kevin. I also saw the move Patton with my dad and brother, it is a movie about the WWII general Patton. It was a pretty good movie, though some people may not like it because of lack of mindless action scenes. And speaking of mindless action scenes, I saw Advent Children again the other day. The movie is alright, but I don't really like re-watching movies that are purely for the fighting scenes and have little to no story line, also why I believe that the second two matrix are just horrible.
This morning the inevitable happened, Amber invited me to go see Pirates of the Carribean at midnight on thursday. It should be fun, though standing in line probably won't be as entertaning without 5 player tetris. Apparently Amber was upset with me for not getting invited to Lauren's party last weekend, even though she couldn't go anyways. I thought about inviting her, but when I asked people if I should the pretty much said "meh". I was kind of annoyed at her for complaning to the person who wasn't supposed to even know about the party. I mean, Lauren is smart and almost certainly knew something was going on, but there is a difference between that and actually telling the person.
Still no luck in seeing superman yet, everyone I've tried asking either doesn't like superman in general or tells me that it is a good movie. I was thinking that it might be something to do on friday, but Adam has already seen it and Lauren didn't seem very interested in it. Looks like I'll be waiting for the DVD to come out, just like King Kong, which I still haven't gotten around to seeing.
Edit: I finished it... |

Crappy things that happened today: My dog kept waking me up because he needed to go to the bathroom so I didn't sleep very well. Hot topic was sold out of the zelda shirt that I wanted to get. I got a call from my doctor saying I have a "moderate backflow of fluid in my heart" and am going to be going to see a cardiologist on the 19th. I have no idea what that means, they might tell me anything from "we just need to keep an eye on it" to "we just need to cut you open right now." I got a rather bad headache this afternoon so I wasn't able to got to weapons class for TKD this week. I wasn't able to talk to Sarah at all.
Not so crappy things that happened today: I managed to level up in WoW, taking much less time than it normally would thanks to building up resting experience from being in wisconson, only one more level to go until I get my mount. I'm gettting fairly close to catching up with Inverloch, maybe next I'll start order of the stick.. I got to watch some TV with my family. I think I'm going to have enough rings to make my shirt long enough, at least I am really hoping that I do. I was able to talk to Lauren.
Origionally this post was much shorter, with 5 things on the "crappy" list and 2 on the "not so crappy" but I decided that I should be more optomistic and even the two out. |
